Roman Oil LampDescription
Most unusual and rare oil lamp in the shape of a cow head with horns. It is well made and generally well preserved except it shows extensive ware and use and has damage around the oil hole and the wick hole. It was bought on eBay in 2014 as a part of the Sinclair collection. The notes of Dr. Sinclair indicate that this is an Egyptian lamp which was found in the neighborhood of the pyramids and was bought by Dr. Sinclair in 1956. This could be a lamp depicting the Egyptian Goddess Hathor. Base plain.Collections
