Probably made in Africa, it was an inexpensive copy of the fine, mold-formed red-gloss ware called Samian or Arretine (terra sigillata) and the equivalent to bone-china or porcelain today. Well made and well preserved except for damage and repair on he base of the cup. Part of Lovelace Collection. (no number)
