Everyday objects were often decorated with human images. This molded terracotta lamp, with a three-ring rim around its sunken disc, is decorated with a helmeted soldier s head in profile. The shape of the helmet is not Roman, but Greek, so the image may be that of a Greek military hero or a mythological figure. Well made and well preserved with no damage anywhere except that color has been worn off. Part of Lovelace Collection. (L055-202) Plain base.
