dc.descriptionSpears were long, heavy, and made for thrusting. Used by heavy infantry that usually carried large shields, they were effective against both infantry and cavalry. Possibly Assyrian, this type was common in the Iron Age before the Persian conquest (ca. 530). (1000 BC — 600 BC) Bought in Jerusalem about 1980.
