Ceramic Figure of a RiderDescription
This rare and unfortunately fragmentary item is a terra cotta cavalryman, made in two molds and joined. Its helmet with cheek- guards and cuirass covered with metal plates appear to be Persian or perhaps Chaldean, forces that occupied the Holy Land from the fall of Jerusalem in 586 BC to its conquest by Alexander in 332 BC. (600 — 300 BC). This was part of the Lovelace Collection which was purchased in 1985.Collections
